Daily-Devotions--A Few Moments With God
Sunday, November 8, 1998

But, in accordance with his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, where righteousness is at home. (2 Peter 3:13 NRSV)

A Sunday School teacher was telling her class of youngsters about the "crowns of glory" that await people who believe. "Now tell me," she said at the close of the lesson, "Who will get the biggest crown?" There was a silence for a moment, then one bright youngster piped out, "The one who has the biggest head."

That youngster probably knows as much as any of us about the shape of that which is to come, but we know this: God will win and Christ will reign triumphant. Christ's glory will light up the universe and his love will light up every heart. That is a consistent promise throughout the New Testament.

Prayer: Loving God, daily fill me with your promise. Amen.
