Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. (Mark 1:14 NRSV Bible)
The Bible speaks a lot about the good news. But what is the good news? The good news is about our savior Jesus Christ. The good news is about the Kingdom of God. The good news is about God unconditional love for us. And the good news is about the hope of salvation through God's forgiveness.

I remember a story of a minister who cut his sermon short one Sunday when he overheard a little boy in the front pew ask his mother, "Mommy, are you sure this is the only way get salvation." God's gifts come in many ways. Sometimes they come is a shorten sermon.

In a Peanuts' cartoon, Snoopy looks longingly out the window of the car he is sitting in all by himself. He says, "Being left alone in the car isn't so bad...That was a pretty lady who patted me on the head...So who cares if she scratched our door when she got out her car?"

We have many choices in life. We can be like Snoopy and look at the good things God has given us or we constantly look at the scares life has left on us. God most certainly wants us to look at life's blessings, as we hear the good news.

Loving God, thank you for the good news you have shared with me through Jesus Christ. Help me to see the many blessings you have given to me as a result of your good news. Amen.
