Come, Lord Jesus! (Revelation 22:20 NRSV)

The message of the Bible is always "Come." Jesus said to his disciples, "Come, follow me." In the last chapter of the last book of the New Testament and we read, "The Spirit and the Bride say, 'Come.' And let him who hears say, 'Come.' And let him who is thirsty come . . . ." That is the eternal word we receive from Christ, "Come."

Ross Damper was once a guest in a home where the husband had recently retired from many years with the Secret Service where he was assigned to guard the President of the United States. This man had served under several presidents and had a lot of great stories to tell. During his years of service, it was the custom of the President and the First Lady to have an annual dinner in the White House for agents and their wives. The walls of this couple's home were decorated with signed engraved invitations from various presidents. The wife proudly said, "All the money in the world could not buy an invitation like that."

Our Bibles have an invitation that all the money in the world will not buy. "Come... Come... Take the water of life." It's here, waiting for you.

Lord Jesus, come into my life today and always. Amen.
