"Lord, if another member of the church sins against me, how often should I forgive?" (Matthew 18:21 NRSV)

It would be good if we always walked away from temptation. But what if we're weak? What if we give in? Then, is it too late? Will God accept the knowing sinner? The answer, of course, is yes. Nothing can snatch us out of God's hand.

A golfer came into the clubhouse, panting, to meet his friend. The friend asked, "Why are you late?"

"Because I had to toss the coin to decide whether to play golf or mow the lawn," he replied.

"I still don't understand," the friend said. "Why are you late?"

"Because I had to toss it 17 times!"

No matter how many times we toss a coin or fall into temptation, God is ready to love us and forgive us. All we need to do is have a truly repentant heart.

Dear God, give me a repentant heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
