Dare to speak the word with greater boldness and without fear. (Philippians 1:14 NRSV)

During the time we were growing up, we were trying to find ourselves. But now it is time for you to take stock of yourself. It's time for you to look within and to get in touch with that which makes you unique. What special gift has God given you? It may or may not be a talent. It may be something as simple as your gift for getting along with other people. It may be your understanding heart. For each of us it will be something different. But within each of us there is an unique gift that we have to offer the world, and if we will find that gift and if we will exploit it for all it is worth, we will rise higher than any honor the world will give us.

There is an old saying, "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king." If you can see things that others cannot see, if you will travel one mile farther than others are willing to travel, if you are willing to be the very best you can be--to barrow a phrase from the Army--you can make life work. Dare to be different! Dare to be Godly!

Lord Jesus, fill me with your life, so that I can dare to be more like our father in heaven. Amen.
