Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God--what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2 NRSV)

Here is a true story, though you won't believe it. A man walks into a doctor's waiting room. Much to his surprise he discovers that everyone is sitting, waiting on the doctor in their underwear. After a few moments of surveying the situation, he slowly removes his clothes, hangs them on a coat rack nearby and quietly take a seat wearing only his underwear, too.

Second true story. Man gets on an elevator. Everyone is facing the back wall. There is no door at the back, just a wall. Everyone is facing it. So the man rides up to his floor facing the back wall, too.

Those are two true stories from the television program of the 60's and 70's, CANDID CAMERA.

Most of us don't like to stand out in a crowd and there is a lot of pressure to conform to the world, but God wants us to conform to the life of Jesus Christ.

Holy God, help me to live by the example of Jesus, instead of conforming to the standards of this world. In Jesus' name, Amen.
